MAD Dragon Media, an entity in the MAD Dragon Music Group (MDMG), is the integrated marketing and media arm that reaches the entire student body, local fans, and consumers. Operating out of Drexel University’s Music Industry Program, MAD Dragon Media represents MAD Dragon Records, plus other local and national artists. We are a student run independent business utilizing all aspects of entertainment marketing. From social media, fan engagement, street teams, to traditional digital advertising and print campaigns. MAD Dragon Media delivers music and events to the masses.
MAD Dragon Media also launched the innovative MAD Dragon Sessions. MAD Dragon Sessions can be compared to a radio station’s lounge recordings, where musicians passing through the town can record live the professional grade MAD Dragon Studios. The sessions are unique as Music Business, and Music Tech students run the MAD Dragon Sessions - coordinating the scheduling, recording, and marketing of these live music sessions. Recorded live from Studio A, from the Drexel campus in Philadelphia, which is the proprietary recording studio of the Music Industry Program, the audio sessions are then broadcast by the Drexel University radio station, WKDU. The entire audio and video is also then broadcast over Drexel University TV, which reaches over 450,000 cable homes in the Philadelphia market.
The MAD Dragon Sessions are a great source for new music discovery that will serve the local Philadelphia music scene, and well as attract bands from near and far. The Sessions will serve as a seamless experience for bands and artists who wish to stop by and have an intimate musical experience within a student run university environment.

In MAD Dragon Music Publishing, students engage in the everyday business of a Publishing Company, including investigating placement possibilities for songs in, e.g., movies and TV. They draft and negotiate licenses for uses, compile database, create and disseminate compilation CDs to music supervisors and like-users, and seek out and sign songwriters to the company. In the spring, students team up with designers in the Design and Merchandising program to sync music for the D&M Fashion Show.
MDAM is envisioned as a hands-on laboratory: students who are currently managing artists or contemplating doing so are expected to bring in artists, issues, deals, questions, ideas and together we will explore real solutions and identify current industry best practices. Topics covered will include how managers assemble and work with the artist team (label, publisher, attorney, accountant, merchandiser, brand partners, agent). We will negotiate agreements, prepare and deliver service pitches to MDMG artists and discuss how to source new clients. The incubator aspect of MDAM provides resources and funding to assist students in launching management companies and/or executing plans developed during the Term.
